With company-wide carbon reduction targets of 45 per cent by 2020 and 80 per cent with 2050, National Grid will now start using Defra’s ‘shadow price’ for carbon of £27.60 per tonne to guide future investment decisions.
From April onwards bonuses for senior executives will be awarded at least in part on achieved carbon reductions as well as financial performance.
