All blocks of flats higher than six storeys, schools, social housing, commercial and industrial buildings in the city will have to comply with the ruling, as well as some large private houses.
Steven Peck, president of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, said that the by-law ‘breaks new ground’ in best practice and was a brave stand against the lobbying efforts of developers.
