The people and businesses doing the work deserve to be seen.
The winners of the Future Icons Awards 2027 and the Future Icons Power List 2027 have been announced by the publication Country & Town House (C&TH).
Satish Kumar, the founder of the Resurgence Trust, which owns and publishes The Ecologist online, was recognised for walking 8,000 miles through 15 countries for peace without a single penny in the 1960s and also establishing the Schumacher College in 1991.
The awards recognise people, brands and businesses making a genuine contribution to a more just, equitable and sustainable world.

Every shortlisted entry was scored by our panel of 52 expert judges against a rigorous scorecard.
Annie Lennox, the singer-songwriter, was recognised for her work as co-founder of The Circle, the global feminist NGO working for a future free from gender-based violence and economic injustice.
Sabrina Elba was also listed for her contribution as UN Goodwill Ambassador for IFAD and founder of S’ABLE Labs, making the case for greater investment in small-scale farmers and rural communities.
Celebrated
The Power List honours 30 people doing important social and environmental work, grouped this year by cause – from rewilders and river campaigners to financiers, school food campaigners and refugee chefs.
Lucy Cleland, editorial director at C&TH, said: “The awards and the Power List come from the same belief – that the people and businesses doing the work deserve to be seen.
“This year’s winners have been rigorously judged, and many of the Power List were nominated by the people we celebrated last year. Between them, they show how that change is happening even when it’s not being talked about.”
